This Privacy Policy explains how EzPick ("we," "our," or "us") collects, uses, and shares information about you when you use our mobile application (the "App").

1. Information We Collect

A. Location Data (Foreground and Background)

For Drivers: The core functionality of EzPick relies on real-time continuous location tracking to trace active buses. When a driver clicks "Start Journey," the App collects precise location data (GPS).

Crucially, we collect this data in the background even when the App is closed, minimized, or not in use. This continuous background location tracking is strictly necessary to accurately calculate geofenced bus stop arrivals, instantly trigger automated push notifications to waiting students, and generate real-time live maps for school administration.

For Students & Admins: We may collect your device's location when you actively use the App (foreground only) to quickly center the live map on your current position. We do not track student or administrator locations in the background.

B. Account & Authentication Information

When you sign into the App, we collect your authentication credentials which are securely managed by our database provider (Supabase). This includes your email address, full name, and your designated role within the system (e.g., student, driver, administrator).

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information exclusively for the following operational purposes:

Provide the Real-Time Service: Driver location data is actively broadcasted to authorized Students and Administrators to provide real-time bus tracking.
Automated Notifications: Background GPS data generated by drivers computes proximity to designated bus stops and triggers WhatsApp and Push notification arrival alerts automatically.
Safety & Monitoring: To maintain secure logs of journey history, speed, and ensure designated vehicles are adhering to their assigned routes safely.

3. How We Share Your Information

We absolutely do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information or location data to third parties. Data is shared strictly within the necessary scope of the service:

With other Authorized Users: A driver's real-time live map location is shared strictly with authenticated users who belong to the same institution.
With Service Providers: We use Supabase (secure database backend) and WhatsApp/Expo (for notifications) to securely process and broadcast system data.

4. Data Retention and Security

We take industry-standard measures to protect your information. Real-time location coordinates in the database are continuously updated and overwritten during active trips. Once a driver completes a journey, active background location tracking ceases immediately and the broadcast session is closed.

5. Your Choices and Permissions

You retain control over how your data is collected at the device level:

Location Permissions: Drivers can choose not to grant "Always On" (Background) location access via their device settings. However, doing so will completely disable the App's ability to run automatically when the screen locks.
Terminating Journeys: Drivers maintain full control to manually stop a journey at any time inside the App, which instantly halts all location data collection.

6. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy.
